Festivals & Events

The Solid Waste Department’s most popular events are our Open Houses, held twice a year in the spring and fall. Residents are invited to visit our four service centers to meet SWMD staff, explore truck & equipment demonstrations, enjoy a resource fair, play games, pick up treats, swag, and more.

The goal for all Fiesta events is to keep the City clean by not littering the streets. We support the Battle of Flowers & Fiesta Flambeau parades, with all SWMD staff on deck to collect trash and recycling during and after the parades. If you help us recycle, we’ll give you a medal.

Every April, you’ll find us at the Woodlawn Lake Park Earth Day celebration. We support the event through recycling and trash collection, but we also have our own exhibit featuring games, information and, of course, swag. Join us!

We can provide recycling bins through our ClearStream Recycling Container Loan Program. These lightweight, collapsible containers are perfect for collecting bottles and cans at your event and are loaned out at no cost.

Invite our SWMD Mobile Outreach team to your event. Our Outreach and Education staff can engage attendees with interactive activities, share information about SWMD services, and hand out fun SWMD swag. You can also request our inflatable mascots (Curby, Glenda, and/or Bart) to add extra visibility and excitement to your event. Mascot availability is based on a case-by-case situation.
